Have your child make a box or bag to hold their Valentine’s Day cards at home. They can bring it in anytime this week; just make sure they have their name clearly printed on it. Have fun!
Monday- Unit 19 Paragraph writing for the week/Challenge list and On-Level list /Guided Reading-Champ group making their own sequel to the book, writing chapter one and a book cover/Continue studying for US SYMBOL test on Thursday/Math-Practice page 82.
We will continue reading as a whole group Letters from Rifka. The children watched a short video last week describing how the Russians had to leave their homeland to look for freedom and Rifka’s family journey. This is the website that I used, http://vimeo.com/9204723 , it was a good video for the kids to see and explain the book more in detail with great real photos.
Tuesday- Math Practice page 83 /Read “Ima and the Great Ostrich Race”-Fill out tri-fold
There will be an assembly today called “Dragons and Dreams”, sponsored by the PTO from 9:15-10:00.
Wednesday- Math-Practice page 84/Study for US Symbol test
The children will be presenting their US symbol poster to the class. They will have a rubric to follow and the children will all be taking notes on each symbol.
Thursday-Math /Study for Spelling
Test today on the US Symbols!
We have started Unit 4 in Math this week which is covering multiplying by 10, rounding and approximating, using scientific notation, applying multiplication and solving area and perimeter. We will get into multiplying three-digit by three-digit numbers which they will be tested on at the end of the unit.
Friday-
Don’t forget band lesson today, bring your instrument.

For Monday, can you send in your child with a newspaper, we will be looking for rounding of numbers in the articles for our class.
