NewsAnnouncements

Hi All,

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break.  We have a lot of news out front for this newsletter:

Congratulations to the Holland Jazz Band for their 'Superior'  rating at the Alexandria Jazz Festival.  This was Holland's first 'Superior' rating at the Alexandria Festival (according to the trophies in the band room that date back to the late 80's, this may in fact have been Holland's first 'Superior' ranking in any festival).  The students should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished.

There is a new performance added to the Jazz Band Schedule.

- 'Night of the Arts' at HTS on May 21 at 7PM.

On  Saturday, May 5th from 8am to 10am.  The HTS Music Boosters are hosting a pancake breakfast at Applebee's (on Route 22 in Philipsburg).  Tickets are $10 each and the money raised will be going to help us buy new risers for our concerts.  You can also purchase tickets and donate them to a local food bank if you would like to support the program but are unable to attend.

If you would like to help out with the music boosters,  please contact Christina Levenson: capl@verizon.net.

The order form for tickets for the breakfast can be found here:

The High School Music Department is planning a district wide picnic for the music students at all of the sending districts on Friday June 1st.  More specific information will be coming as soon as I get it.

3rd Grade: Congratulations to the 3rd grade on their exceptional performance at their concert.  Students do not need to bring their recorders to school with them any more.  We will be spending the next few weeks learning about the instruments that they will be able to play next year in 4th Grade

4th Grade: New lesson schedule were distributed to students before spring break.  They are also online here:

5th Grade: All students should be working on 'Firework' and 'The Firebird' for our spring concert.

6th - 8th Grade: Students should continue practicing the music for the concert.
