5th Grade: Students will be working with the Elements and Principles of Design.
Projects: Name Design, Tye Dye Sky, Bas Relief Fish, 5" Clay pot, Burlap wall hanging, Object Tree, Splatter painting, and Mono Printing. There will also be a spelling test near the end of the marking period.
6th Grade: Students will be working on three dimensional drawing, textures, and sculpture.
Projects: 2pt Perspective Drawing, Printmaking, Sculptured Clay Container, Locker(Surealism), Object Word. There will also be a spelling test near the end of the marking period.
7th Grade: Students will be exploring the purpose and use of masks through creating an original mask with plaster. Through observational drawing of still life's, portrait and an enlargement of their eye the student will enhance their drawing ability.
Projects: Masks, Still life of shoes or backpack, Portrait, Escher Eye, Funtional/Non-Funtional Clay plate, Compare and contrast of 2 works of art, with the use of a Venn Diagram .
8th Grade: Students will further their knowledge in art while exploring periods of art related to their projects. (ie. Realism, Impressionism, Surrealism, and Abstract.) Many projects will require the use of shading and highlights is their work.
Projects: Marking period 1 -Still life of Sunflowere, Black and White bottle fan-fold, Scratch Etch, and Tessellations.
Marking period 2 - Fantasy Clay Piece, 3 Part Unit on Leonardo di Vinci, Black and White picture enlargement, Cut-Paper Relief Design, Color Scheme Design, and Drawing Negative Space. Students will create a story, poem or rap song from a picture prompt by a famous artist to present to the class along with a final copy to hand in for grading.
