Week of February 6

Language Arts

Final pronoun quiz on on Tuesday.  Use worksheets and textbook to study.  The study guide tells you which areas to study.

We will be having a spelling and vocabulary quiz on Friday on Unit 7. A list of the words are linked on the site.

 

Reading

We will be starting our new novels this week.  There will be various groups reading the Incredible Journey, Poppy, and the Sign of the Beaver.  All books deal with survival.

The due date for the next book report is March 27.  This is a self choice fiction book.  Books in a series can be used if you haven't already done a book report on one of them for the first marking period.  Books that have been turned into a movie before the due date cannot be approved.

Social Studies

We will studying about European explorers and the contributions they made to settlements.  The at-home explorers project is due February 13.  Please work on this project carefully to make sure that you have finished all the requirements.  All the requirements for this project, except the map, are linked to this site. Use the checklist to make sure you have finished everything. 

If you are creating a project, I encourage you to use materials at home.  There is no need to go out and purchase anything.  I have a lot of paper here for you.  If you would like to complete a project that's not on the list, please see me first.  Remember, no dioramas.
