Week of May 14

Vocabulary and spelling quizzes for Unit 13 will be on Friday, May 18.  The word list is attached.

We received our last pen pal letter for the year.  We will finish them this week.  If you would like to write to your pen pal over the summer, you need to get permission from your family.  Send in a note to school by Tuesday.

Reading

New Novels!

We will be working on reading our new novels this week.  I am so happy that you will all be reading your first or second choice of books.  Remember to complete the assigned chapters each night so you are prepared for the discussion for the next day.  When you are working in your groups, determine how many pages you will read each time. 

The due date for the fourth marking period book report is May 30.  You should be finishing your book by the middle of this month.  You will need time to write out a draft copy and then finish your final. The book report form is located under Class Resources.

You also need to complete your project.  Use the suggested list of projects to get some ideas or come up with one of your own.  If you have an idea for a project, please see me first before you begin. This project is worth a small portion of your grade, so you should spend more time on your written summary.

When you are creating your project, try to recycle items that you have at home.  There isn't any need to go purchase anything.  See what old materials you can make new again!  I have plenty of paper and materials for you to use.
