2016-2017 HIB Self Assessment Holland Township District and School Grade Report

HIB Self Assessment Holland Township District and School Grade Report

The New Jersey Department of Education has posted School and District Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Grades as stated in the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act. Our grade was determined by conducting a self-assessment in the following areas: HIB Programs, Approaches and Other Initiatives, Training on the BOE Approved HIB Policy, Staff Instruction and Training Programs, Curriculum and Instruction on HIB and Related Information and Skills, HIB Personnel, School-Level HIB Incident Reporting Procedure, HIB Investigative Procedure and HIB Reporting.

Our self-assessment for the 2016-2017 school year identified several areas of strength. Our district met all timelines for investigations, followed all procedures for investigations and was compliant in all areas. Our strengths exceeding expectations included providing programs, approaches and initiatives, providing all trainings, embedding HIB prevention in our instructional program and observing the Week of Respect and promoting a positive school climate. Areas identified for focus during the 2017-2018 school year include the continuation of school-wide programs and themes to ensure that character education is curriculum based and reinforced throughout the school year. We also increased supervision in areas identified through building mapping. Our goals this year include the development of student leadership based on the Seven Habits of Healthy Kids and Teens by Sean Covey.
