A Message From Our Incoming Superintendent

HTSD Administration, BOE, Community News, School News

As we usher in an anticipated school year, we dream of exciting opportunities, new friendships and learning. I know that personally, this school year brings to my household a plethora of hopes, dreams and realities. I would like to take this opportunity to say that I am honored and very excited to begin as your new Superintendent. Holland Township is a wonderful community, where children can experiment and grow to obtain their goals and dreams. There is a tradition of excellence that exists, and is attainable, due to the wonderful people in our community and the hard work of our students and staff.  Since my appointment as your Superintendent, many of you have reached out to me to share your knowledge and anticipation.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and my family. As many of you have already heard, I am the mother to seven precarious children ranging in age from 24 to 8 years old. My oldest son is an Army veteran and a National Guard reservist who lives locally with his wife. We also have a son studying business, in his senior year. The five youngest are still in elementary school: a daughter in 7th, a son in 6th, and the triplets are in 3rd grade. My husband and I help feed this brood, by farming in our spare time in nearby Pohatcong Township. We have been providing our community with summer vegetables and fall harvests since 2004. My kids are typical children with constant trials. They are far from perfect, but they are good people. I share this with you because my experiences as their mother has helped shape who I am as an educator and as an educational leader.

My passion in education comes from my belief that all children, deserve a quality, comprehensive education which provides them with an opportunity to learn and grow. I take very seriously that you have trusted me with your children, to ensure their care, safety and educational experiences.

As your Superintendent, I will ensure that my passion spills into my mission. That is, to maintain and grow a rigorous teaching and learning environment that provides every student with a sense of belonging while helping students to grow intellectually, emotionally and socially. It is crucial to every child’s success that they gain the understanding of the habits of mind and skills necessary to pursue and achieve their goals and dreams.

Finally, I would like to thank Mr. William Shlala, for providing wonderful leadership to our children and staff as your interim Superintendent. I wish him continued success in his future endeavors.

Please come and introduce yourself, my formal beginning is October 1st, 2018, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

With great pride,

Stephanie Snyder

Superintendent
