Important Information from HTSD
March 13, 2020
Dear HTS Family:
The health and wellness of our staff and students continues to be the first priority of the Holland Township School District. To that end, this letter is to inform you that the Holland Township School District after consultation with the Hunterdon County Health Department has decided to close for students beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020. Public health officials advise that social distancing is an effective strategy to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The district will be implementing virtual home instruction during the closing of school buildings. The chart below illustrates the timeline in which we will be implementing a virtual home instruction format:
Please note, that upon reevaluation of the situation on March 25th, the district may remain closed through the end of spring break (April 17th). We know that families count on routine and other critical supports when school is in session. To ease the disruption of a school building closure, our food service company Maschios, in cooperation with Delaware Valley Regional High School, will drop meals off daily at the home of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch and choose this service.
If families are in need of a technology device for online learning, please call the following number 908-995-2401 x6347 or email tech@hollandschool.org to request a district Chromebook be provided with the instructional packet.
Our goal is to maintain instructional continuity using virtual means. To this end, your child’s teacher(s) have developed home instruction lessons that offer online and offline opportunities to meet the required two hours of daily instruction.
During this period of virtual learning, email is the preferred communication method for parent-teacher communications. Teachers will be available for “virtual office hours” on weekdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm if students or parents have questions.
Contemplating weeks without a regular school routine can be overwhelming. Please know that we are doing our very best to make decisions that are in the best interest of our entire school community. Updates will be posted to the district website as new and relevant information becomes available. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this difficult situation.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Snyder
Superintendent
